Wow, Tom & Christy had a great weekend. They finished 7th out of 85 teams, 8th in chicken,1st in ribs and 1st in Perdue Chicken. Congrats, couldn't happen to 2 nicer people.

I do remember B-N BBQ getting a walk in chicken and 3EYZ getting a walk in ribs. Congrats to all that walked, sorry if I missed anyone.

I saw and met a lot of MABA folks there, but didn't get to meet them all.
Great weather, well run event as usual and a lot of fun.

Oh yea, we tanked! Embarassed 34th overall. Best category 16th brisket.

That was a very impressive showing of cullinary skills in a tough crowd of competitors. Great job Tom and Christy!! Not only for the BBQ but for the anything Butt. All I can say is WOW.

It was great to meet all you fine folks out there. Had a great time With CHris of B-N-bbq.Tom and Christy, Tom and Michelle, Hershey, Carl and Wife, Ron, 3EYZ families, Rag and his lovely wife,Pig Pen And all the rest that escapes me right now. How blessed I feel that we have this great group of people, And Cooks.

Thanks to all for the tips and advice, Idea's and general conversations that we have. Hope we all get to do this again. And continue to share our Knowledge, And a little BS here and there.... Laughing

Personally I want to also thank 3eyz for letting me come along with them on this one. What a great time I had. And I also tanked in a couple of categories. But i am very honered to have competed with the best of the best.

P.S.

Rich, That was one awsome Hog you cooked. It definetly tasted way better than the one I cooked. And a very impressive set up. I learned alot from you out there. Thanks for sharing.

What a weekend. I'm tired.....

Awards ceremony was awesome. I was nice to see so many people walk other than the just the names you expect to hear. Tom and Christy are really screwed now......I see more comps in their future!

Congrats to everybody that placed, that was an all-star field of teams. And don't let Mutha fool you, that was one good looking pig that got 5th place!

Thanks Bill! Very Happy

Taking that walk is always nice. I balanced it out well though with a 70ish placing in chicken. Got to be balanced, right?

We missed a walk by 1 place. We ended up with a 11th in chicken. Not too bad. The 4th in AB felt good too.

Here is another celeb:

Great job Tom & Christy!!!! Thanks for stopping by the site, and for Christy for trying to cheer me up after my "festive" chicken disaster. Although, it worked out better than I expected (7th)!!!

Great job to 3Eyz for their call in ribs, and to George and Who Are Those Guys for their call in Pork

It was great meeting all the new people and renewing friendships with others. We had a blast, even though we got blasted by the judges most of the time. Let's just say we had a good "learning" competition, hopefully something to build on.

On another note........has anyone heard anything about Shotgun Fred, and how he's doing?

who IS that guy? Surprised We had a great time. Congradulations to Tom & Cristy, great job mateys! Congrats to everyone else that walked. It sure was a large and tough field. It was great meeting some folks in person for the first time, thanks to everyone that stopped by and introduced themselves. The weekend really flew by, I think those two catogories Friday night added to the speed in which things went. I wish I could have gotten around a little more to BS with more folks, maybe next time. The weather could not have been any better. I also want to send thoughts and prayers to Shotgun Fred and his family and also the entire family up at BBQ Guru, It was great seeing Bob walk for 1st place pork. Godspeed Shotgun Fred.

Fred had a stroke Friday morning on site at 7:30am. He is doing better and getting feeling in his left site again according to the last update I got last night. A long road lies ahead I believe though.

I also think he'll be trasfered back to the Philly area soon.

Dan

Wait, what? Did something happen to Fred?

He had a stroke Friday morning at the contest in Salisbury. He is in the hospital there in Salisbury. I do not know any updated condition information.
