I like all types of music.. Just ask Dan.... I'm pretty particular with the type of bluegrass I like.. Upbeat, faster..... etc.

Jason,

Bluegrass isn't Aerosmith but I listen to a little bit. You might want to check out Dixie Hayseed.

Another option is XM radio channel 14. Pretty much commercial free Bluegrass.

I check out the Sirius bluegrass station. but too much of it seems to be slower paced. I like the faster stuff. Hayseed Dixie I have checked out. Also found Iron Horse who does bluegrass versions on rock bands, very cool.

Dude, if you had only been at the WV competition. I never want to hear that sh*t again. I may use ear plugs this year......

But no, no recommendation from me.

Dan just plug in your IPod. Luckily in WV we were far enough away that we couldn't hear it.

Jason,

Do a search for "Bela Fleck". He's one of the world's greatest banjo players. His roots are in bluegrass but also does a lot of jazz fusion type stuff. My favorite CD is "Flight of the Cosmic Hippo".

If you want to know about traditional bluegrass, search for the Stanley Bro's, or Bill Monroe. They created the world of recorded bluegrass back in the 30's. Two of Bill Monroe's bandmates left and played for themselves; Lester Flatts and Earl Scruggs, who wrote and sang the song for the TV show "the Beverley Hillbillies".

You may want to listen to Del McRory (sp?) for more modern recordings of traditional type of Bluegrass. If not that, even Allison Kraus may do.

Cool Check out Old Crow Medicine Show. Take a listen to Carl's "Fire on the Mountain" program on WVUD Sat. mornings 10-12, good stuff.
Love me some Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss, for sure !!!
