Hey guys, my father-in-law has a nice propane grill that came with generic metal cooking grates. Needless to say, they have rusted over. I gave him a heads up on how to take care of them. However, he is looking to get a new set and I was looking into porcelain grates. We are looking at a cost of about $100 versus $40 for the metal grates. Is it worth it, are they easy to care for?? They also have "porcelain cast iron" ones. I assume they are cast iron with a porcelain coating?? Any help would be appreciated.. _________________ 3 Eyz BBQ

My propane grill has the porcelain coated cast iron grates, and they're still in great shape after 6 years of use. I'd highly recommend them. _________________ Keith

why not have someone weld him some s/s ones up, like what MeadowCreek uses. You wouldnt have to worry about rust ever again! _________________ NO DEPOSIT, NO RETURN! |

I had a Weber Gas Grill once with porcelin coated grates. It worked fine till the porcelin chipped and then it began to rust _________________ Big George's BBQ
