Does anyone look at competition pictures on the internet to try to pick up tips? I mean more than turn in boxes. Do you look to see what commercial sauces they have, what kind of knives, foil or not, Chicken on a grill - or not, how their h2o stations are set up etc. I thought about this first when I noticed a blue squeeze bottle on my table in one of my pics.
How closly do you look at pictures before posting them to be sure no secrets are revealed. And have you ever puposly included things you would never use in pictures to keep people off track?

I might see something, or give away a thing or two, but it doesn't bother me. I would much rather talk to folks, ask questions and get their take on an idea or any wisdom they might want to share. _________________ Chris

Good post Tom, I would never consider shigging via photograph. I will say, however, that using wooden sticks to pin my chicken was entirely my original idea and not borrowed form anyone, especially them 2 fellows with 3 eyz. I have never seen a picture on their website showing chicken, wooden sticks, or any combination thereof.
As far as our pictures, I am usually too busy and forget to snap any pics during turn in time. Most of our shots are from Friday night sitting around or of the contest grounds. I like how you think, it gives me an idea. Take a few shots with something totally unexpected clearly visable in the picture and hope that it stirs some interest. So folks might be thinking, what in the world are they doing with THAT. Like a pair of plyers perhaps, like from a leatherman, with sauce on the bussiness end, just a thought _________________ george

George-
Very funny. We are now using medical staplers for that purpose. The staples are more expensive but they are sterile and easier to apply than the wooden sticks you are refering too.
Look for random items in our photos now...... _________________ Dan Hixon

I will, I am also thinking about investing in one of those spy cameras, maybe one mounted in a large flower, that way, when I go around visiting, I can snap my own shigging shots! _________________ george

I'm experimenting with Super Glue on my chicken. It's used in surgery in place of sutures sometimes so it has to work. And if a judge bites into it he'll think it's just a bit of crispy skin. It does taste funny though.
