Hello, Has anyone tried Hop Hog Ale ? It's a tripple hop brew with a very distinctive flavor. Blended it half & half with Posse BBQ Sauce (have only two bottles left - will be a collector's item) and it made a smooth sauce with the hop aspect greatly reduced but contributing a unique and quite palatable flavor. It brushes onto ribs very evenly.

I come from the land of the Hop Devil (Victory Brewing, Chester County, PA). What is the origin of the Hop Hog Ale?

Regarding the two remaining bottles........ is that the blend, the sauce, or the beer?

Hello,

Hop Hog Ale is made by Lancaster Brewing Co. I think they now also have a branch brewing location in Williamsport, but would have to run out to the recycle bin to check. I can get you a case if you would like.

The two bottles left are the Posse BBQ Sauce. The blend is long gone (!) Will probaby make a new one with something else. Have brined ribs in a maple/bourbon mix ( courtesy of Jim Tarantino's "Marinade" book ) which turned out really fabulous. Did the brine routine (24 hrs), then rinsed, patted dry, put my rub on overnight, then smoked in the TS120 like usual.

Liquor in BBQ....well, if you mean specifically in the sauce...I do use Jack Daniels in my Bour-be-Que sauce. Most people love it. I do admit to sipping some while its cookin.

As for just consumption....well, a like the "after dinner" drinks of Amaretto di Saronno, or Frangelica Hazelnut Liquer, or, if Im partying, Licor 43.

Some good Cruzan Rum if the weather is hot, the pool is open, and Im feeling tropical...
