mcbeerman,

There was an extensive selection of gadgets, tools, accessories, charcoal, books, temp control devices, etc at the Meadow Creek, Maverick and BBQ Guru booths. What would you have liked to have seen that was missing?

Thanks for sharing your impressions of the Expo. Your input will be appreciated and used for future planning. Be as specific as possible.

I was not trying to be critical. I was only stating what I thought would be an improvement for next year so more people would want to come. I like the ideas of Smokin Gnome and Mcberman

Thanks to all that but the effort into putting together the Expo. I attended the Expo on Saturday. I was surprised the cost went up to get in... But hey that's a part of life price of things do go up. I was excite and hungry. I met my team there in hoping to see new and interesting things. The food was great! It was nice to see the boy scouts cookin' up some good food... I did get my fill of Que for the day for $8.00. It was nice to see and gab with old friends and new friends... Very Happy I thought the expo was going to be better then last years with the hype and being its second year... There should have been more going on. What a bummer after going from the parking lot to the inside... Sad

A question was asked of what would some like to see at the expo... I know you don’t want to see 5 banners guys but at least try t o have one… MABBQA can limit or restrict the number and/or types of vendors they would like to have at the Expo.

Well I would like to see maybe:
1. Having a bbq judging class to attract attendees who would like to become a judge on team or the general public
2. More Quin' demonstrations
3. A graphics/sign/t-shirt guy would have been great
4. Different vendors for grills, spices, books and other stuff...
5. Invite competition teams to come and setup & do some cookin’!
The expo needs more things to attract the public & cookin' enthusiast and be more organized also.

You can have the same vendor as the year prior but you need to expand on what is already established from the prior year. If not the Expo will turn into a flop!... Good luck with next years event...

That's my opinion ... Peace out!

I think that's a great idea! Maybe have a nuts to bolts "from contest arrival to tear down" class for those who are thinking of getting into competition, or those who are just interested in seeing what it takes.

Also, in my profession, we are putting together a Mentoring Program for those who desire to obtain licensure. Maybe something like this where someone could sign on to help a team at a couple of contests to learn the ropes.

Sorry I didn't make the Expo...it sounds like it went well. Family stuff....you all know how that goes.

I was also there Friday with my dad. I thought the seminars that I went to were very good. Some did not really apply to me yet, but it was still interesting to go and see what they had to say. I talked to a lot of nice people there. It absolutely got me in the BBQ spirit this year. I am chomping at the bit to get the new smoker and cook.

Here are some suggestions to what I think may make it better. Have a spice and rub seminar, one that is interactive. Have a bunch of spices, have someone that has made there own, and have them help people make their own rubs. That way people that are new to it are not as nervous or think "I can't do that." Granted it will be a longer seminar, but it would be interesting to people that just are starting out at Qing. Another suggestion and this one maybe difficult. Have a BBQ class, starting the first day and possibly going into the night. The classes seem to turn out a good number of people. While there is down time during the class people can walk around and look at other vendors.

What do you think?
