|
|
After hearing about Shotgun Fred's stroke, then witnessing all the out pouring of prayers and concern regarding Fred and his entire team, it's obvious how much he has done, and how much he means to the BBQ world, so I came up with this proposal:
Last September, Brett Brown put together a little unsanctioned competition at The BBQ Guru's place, and called it The Deer HUnter. The rules were the same as KCBS with only one caveat, you were only allowed to cook the minimum amount of food for your turn in; 6 pieces of chicken, 1 rack of ribs, 1 shoulder or butt, and 1 brisket. Brett's thought was that this would force one to take that much more care in their cooking. Now....here is my proposal. If Brett is willing to organize this again, that would be great, but my suggestion is that it be renamed "The Shotgun Fred BBQ Showdown!!"
If Brett's not interested, perhaps MABA could step in and put it together.
Any thoughts? _________________ Keith

I think that is a great idea. I also think that the proceeds should go to his favorite charity _________________ Big George's BBQ

Can't speak for "B-n-BBQ", but I know for sure "Big Ugly BBQ" would love to participate in something like this.
This is a GREAT idea!!! _________________ Chris

GREAT IDEA!!!! 2 "foods" for thought....
1. find a meat sponser and make it peoples choice by giving out samples "for a donation" ticket.(donate the left overs to a food bank)
2.do all 4 kcbs catagories, but contestants only get to enter their best 2 catagories, scores are scores.
p.s....no cash just trophies, cash goes to charities if there is a meat sponser!!
just my $.02
