Keansburg (NJ) Fire Co. #1 held their first BBQ Comp on Saturday, 5-17, and it was a real nice event. Eight (8) teams competited in chicken, ribs, and a Chef's Choice, (anything but desert). There was plenty of room as the whole street next to the firehoue was closed down & the weather was perfect.
Congradulations to "Pigtales BBQ", (Michele Peralka of Lo'-n-Slo' and Connie Caruso of Pig Pen BBQ), who won 1st place Chicken, 1st place Ribs, & 1st place Chef's choice and of course were GRAND CHAMPIONS for their first time. Also congrats to the "Ocean County Pig Assassins" who were reserve Grand Champs. (Both trophies were absolutly excellent).
This was a GREAT one day contest, put on by a great bunch of folks and will surely be bigger next year!
Rich at Pig Pen (who got to move cookers, light them, & clean them)

That right there is a WHOOPIN on the competitors. 3 firsts, Great job.

Thanks for all of the congrats. The women are not just the pretty faces behind the men and their cookers.  We can COOK!!!!!!! Pictures to follow. Awesome contest.
