I finally got my wood. $100 of fairly nice, cut and split hickory and cherry. Got some 4X4s to raise it off the ground so I could stack it. Had a real nice stack going. Was working on the last load- about 1/2 a wheel barrel load when all of a sudden it went Humpty Dumpty on me. Now I get to start all over. At least it is off the Driveway.

Since you've got the experience, come on over my place and help me restack mine - I see signs of rats getting in there.

If you don't mind me asking what type of wood do you use? I'm in Annapolis and I'm trying to find a source for some apple wood.

Thanks

I got Hickory and Cherry. Would like to find some apple too. I have heard if you are near and apple orchard that you may be able to get some seasoned apple. Meadow Creek BBQ sells it. I do not know how much it would cost to ship

I worked out a barter from a friend who cuts trees for half a cord of mixed oak, hickory and apple in exchange for a favor owed and ten pounds of pulled pork. Contacting a local tree trimmer will likely be your cheapest option.

I know its a hike for you, but there is a source of free apple wood on Rt 30 west of Gettysburg. Apple farm lost trees to a storm, and they dug them up. All you have to do is show up with a truck, and a saw or two.

Got a whole truckload, only problem is that it still has to dry.

Sounds like I should be making a trip to Gettysburg. Do you have the name of the farm? Only if you want to give up your source. Laughing
