I visited the Restaurant Depot website recently and wondered how many of you shop there and what your experience has been regarding price, quality, service, etc.

I'd love to check one out some time, but none in my vicinity.

Hey Carl,

I have been a member there for about a year and one half. It's a pretty good supply house the best part of which is that the public is definetly not admitted...you need to show your business license etc....no crowds. I do not by my competition meat there but lots of other stuff ie. condiments, canned goods, paper products, and especially equipment. When they have a sale it's for real. I got a good deal on Cambros this past summer.
Just my read on it, hope it helps.

There's one in Philly next to the Eagles stadium on Pattison Ave. Doesn't go by Restaurant Depot though, it's Jetro. Don't know why, but they are a Rest. Depot. I have used their brisket and spares for comps in the past and have done well. They only sell boneless butts at Jetro also.
It's a great place, as close to one-stop shopping as you'll ever find. I can spend hours (and $$$) there.

Ron........In addiition to the store already mentioned by the stadium in Philly, there is one on Ridge Ave in Manayunk.

Erik......They have a store on south side of Baltimore that may work for you.

Thanks to all for the replies. It looks like it's worth a visit.

Carl

I'm a new member there. I use the one in South Philly too. I haven't bought any comp meat there yet, but plan on trying their brisket. I also got a very good deal on a Cambro there .

So what do I need to present to shop there? I don't cater or have a restaurant. Sysco told me I need an EIN and a trade name (which is easy enough to get). Will that work for a Restaurant Depot?

Also, does anyone know if they carry quality packers (i.e. prime or CAB)?

I have formed an LLC for my various pursuits and the EIN was enough.

I shop at the one in Alexandria Va and the one in Baltimore, Md. Some things like meat can be a really good deal, but there are many things they carry that are cheaper at Costco or Sam's.
