*&$%#@ rain. Was going to head up to our riding club for the weekend. One last dose of throttle therapy before work starts again. There was a wing contest up there too, now I have 100 wings in my fridge. Stayed home and hung drywall instead. I know what I'm cookin tomorrow. Hope the neighbors are hungry. _________________ Jon

Im with you guys, Im sick and tired of all this rain and dampness.
It seems all winter the Jersey shore got socked with wind storms and rain storms. Well, both. I still have Christmas lights up, and fall leaves down!
Im waiting for some nicer weather, which coincides with me being off, so i can get to dry docking my BBQ Pit. She needs some grinding and paint, I need to de-carbon the inside, and re-oil, and I got some new wheels coming in for it, and Im picking up a stainless food grate from Meadow Creek tomorrow...I cant wait for the smell of a wood fire, and BBQ rub waftin through the yard! _________________ Smokin Joe

I guess I really don't have anything to complain about. My patio is rather large and has a Metal awning covering the whole thing so weather was never a real issue. i would like to see more sun and warmer weather I belive its on its way whoohoo. I'm ready for the games to begin!!! _________________ Peace & BBQ

B -n-BBQ..............
Hey Chris, how did things go with your first cook on the new Tallboy?
I just brought home a new Tallboy myself from the Meadow Creek open house. Hope all went well. Let us know how you made out. _________________ MABA - Board of Directors

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Now if only I can get thru the learning curve. Here are some of the things I encountered yesterday.
1. The flume in the fire box has a tab on one end for a reason. It goes thru the hole in the back of the firebox to hold it in place. Pulled the box out to add wood, and couldn't figure out why it would slide back in correctly. Easy fix.
2. Probe placement for the pit & meat probes. The door swings to the right, the whole for the pit probe is on the left. I first mounted the DigiII to the left, then moved it to the right and ran the pit probe cord over the top and around. Easy fix.
3. DO NOT OVERLOAD THE FIREBOX, operator headspace noted here!
All in all , it went well, I probably set the pit temp a bit high for brisket, but I wanted to do it the way we have been doing it so far, and it cooked very well. Next weekend we'll try again.
Sorry I missed everyone yesterday at the MC Open House. The resource manager called me on some "honey-do's" I had to get done before the in-laws arrive Tues (I'll be in DC thankfully). We get along ok, but there is always that awkward moment with them. _________________ Chris
