Picked up a Meadow Creek TS 250 today from the Turner brothers (slightly used). It is less than a year old and larger than my Lang 60. I'm gonna fire it up tomorrow and maybe throw a chicken on it. It appears to be large enough to handle a large pig. The only thing missing is a cup holder.
Anybody looking for a Lang?

SWEET! Thats some Guru power on that bad boy. You may want to try adding a charcoal basket, I hear that helps your burn time on those.

How does that Guru work on one of those? A bit different from a WSM I imagine.

Also, whats the pros/cons of a meadow creek vs a Lang? Look to be the same thing but only cooked on a Lang once.

I have the hardware ready to mount the charcoal cooker sitting in the wood basket. Just waiting on the weather.
I think the two cookers will be very simular in cooking. However, the splached chicken I did on Sunday was probably the best bird to date.
I was mainly looking for larger capacity to cook large hogs. Going to offer backyard cooks to folks this summer.
The Guru works like a champ and 2 fans take any fussing out of the temp control.

Nice Guru setup. Only thing missing is a charcoal basket... well worth the money.

One question though- does putting both fans on one side give you anything that one fan on each side does not? Just curious... i never even thought of putting them both on the same side... doing that would sure save me time if i didnt have to wrap my wire in foil as an insulator as its laying under my firebox!

I haven't considered a basket since I use all wood.
I never tried a fan on each side, on either the Lang or MC. Didn't like the idea of wire and a hot fire box coming too close. I wrecked my garden hose like that. LOL
Some guys on another forum have a cook contest Super Bowl weekend where we cook something and email a photo of it in. We have event T shirts and prizes too. Winter bordom.
Anyway I have to get the legs cut down on the charcoal cooker and mounted on the MC before SB weekend. This weekend will be pretty cold so I better get going on it. Will post pics when done.

A bit further up on this column, someone asked about the differences between a Lang60 and a Meadow Creek 120. I've had a Lang60 for about 5 years and along with Tommy, had helped talk Melvin into producing that style of smoker which resulted in the "120." I have used a 120 alongside my now-modified Lang, and even with the improvements I had done to it, the 120 did a better overall job. Can't explain it . . used wood from the same batch, charcoal from same bags, both units set up side by side on location . . . One thing I like about the Lang is the four round turnable air intakes on the sides of the firebox. The sliders on the 120 stick in the tracks when hot. But I had most other features of the Lang modified such as door latches, added three more thermometers at varying levels, stainless upper & lower food shelves on tracks, interchangeable charcoal basket when I don't use the fireplace grate, and of course, a port for a 25 CFM Guru fan. Also had two small holes drilled in the back wall of the food chamber to insert the Guru probes so that the lid would not pinch the wires. When not in use, I just plug each hole with a 1/2" long nut & bolt.

I drilled 3 holes into my Lang warmer (one at each level) and covered the holes with round 'rare earth magnets' about the size of quarters.
Works great.

Hello rag,
Did something similar with my warming box too. When I had Mel install it on my Lang, had it made to take five full-size steamtable pans with about 2" space for heat circulation between them. Also had holes drilled along the side of the warmng box so that small peg-style thermometers could be inserted to monitor each level's pan. To facilitate the heat/air flow/moisture collection, I had a single disk type air vent put in at the front bottom left corner of the box and one put in at the right side back top side. When each is open somewhat, it allows a diagonal air flow thru so that heat becomes more even throughtout the box and it alleviates an overabundance of condensation dripping into trays of food.

If the Lang wasn't mounted on the trailer, I would be all over it. I just bought a Haulmark trailer to store/move my toys in. I don't have alot of room to store a trailer-mounted smoker.
