I'll be competing there again this year.
From the event organizers, emailed April 4th:
Greetings All,
Response was great with over half of the people who received our email on Early Sunday morning responding with an application. We had several envelopes with no postmarks on them - one the stamps were not even cancelled and the other only had black lines across the stamps, one was clearly machine postage which we said was not acceptable and several were postmarked on April 1st or later. Of those in the running were one was postmarked on Sunday March 30 at post office located in the Washington, DC area (the Sunday hours were confirmed online at the USPS website) and 22 postmarked on March 31, 2008. As a result of the drawing process outlined in the email sent with the application the following are the competitors filling the eleven remaining spaces for the 2007 New Jersey State Barbecue Championship.
1. Brett Brown - FREE RANGE BBQ
2. Nancee Gell - THE PURPLE TURTLE CATERING COMPANY
3. Bob Trudnak - THE BBQ GURU
4. Josh Shaul - SMOKEADELIC
5. Brad Cook - CAROLINA BLUE
6. Belford J. Riggins - GYPSY BBQ
7. Jason Stavely - SMOKIN JAY'S BBQ
8. Brian Ameno - STEWED, QUED AND TATTOOED
9. Jason Pino - GRILL-BILLIES
10. Michael P. Czajk - DIXIE MEAT RUB
11. Mike Casey - MASON DIXON SMOKERS BBQ TEAM (Formerly PA POSSEE)
These teams are on standby:

they said they were going to send that e-mail to everyone. but as always what they say and what they do are two different things. that puts me on the wait list

Fat angel will be there this year and are looking forward to it, although I was not to happy to see that Yankee BBQ is coming down to South Jersey. This competition just got a lot tougher.
