My name is George Hensler. I have a BBQ team named "who are those guys?" 2007 was our first year in competition and we really had a lot of fun. I have written a blog that tells the story of starting a BBQ team and goes through our first year of competing. http://thenewguys.blogspot.com/ If you are bored and have nothing else to do, why not give it a read. There are a few funny parts! I look forward to learning more about BBQ cooking and meeting new folks in the upcoming season. I recently became a member of MABA and think this forum is a great idea. Thanks to all of those who took the time to create and manage this site.

George, good to meet you. I just joined yesterday, great folks here. Being from Perryville, we're not too far apart. Our team also formed last year, so I am interested in reading the blog, to enjoy and see if you had some of the same experiences we had. I did notice you have a picture of a BBQ Guru Tall Boy, do you use that smoker and how do you like it?

Chris

I really like the tall boy. I think it is a great all around cooker. The service and support from the Guru guys is tough to beat.

My wife just called me from Catering Expo out in Vegas, BBQ Bob and the crew are out there, they offered her a Tall Boy, DigiII, and Fan package deal, delivered. I'm really thinking about it.

BBQ Gurus are fantastic. We started with the Procom and then got a competitor for our ribs. Since then, we acquired a Digi Q II. They all have worked very good for us. We'll be trying out a Tall Boy in the next few months, but have heard great things about it.

Took the dive, DigiII get here Friday night, and the Tallboy gets delivered next week. Gonna be a long week.

George........Welcome to MABA and particularly to this forum. I've enjoyed your blog immensely! It's entertaining and informative. Very well done.

I hope your team has continued success this year. I'll be judging at most of the events you are going to and will be sure to stop by and chat for a while.

No necessarily switch to one, but try one out.. Always looking to check out new toys.. We're keeping the WSMs and there was some rumors that we might get another at one point... Who knows..

If you're looking for a WSM, You could always check out Amazon (through the 3 eyz site) and fine one there. (Sorry, shameless plug for referral). No, seriously, you can typically find them for around $180 or so anymore.
